Why Use This Converter?

Video calling apps are picky about background image dimensions and formats. This tool handles every requirement automatically.

Browser-based processing means no upload wait time. A 5 MB image converts in under 2 seconds on any modern device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Zoom recommends 1920×1080 pixels (16:9 aspect ratio) for virtual backgrounds. Minimum supported size is 1280×720. Images outside the 16:9 ratio will be cropped by Zoom — which is why this converter pre-crops your image to the exact frame before you upload.

Microsoft Teams accepts JPG and PNG files up to 20 MB. JPG is recommended for photos and complex images. PNG is better when you need a transparent background (for custom overlays). The Teams virtual background settings are found under Settings → Devices → Background effects.

Not directly — video calling apps do not accept HEIC files. You need to convert your iPhone HEIC photo to JPG first. Use the PhotoFormatLab HEIC to JPG converter (linked below the tool), then bring the JPG back here to resize it for your meeting platform.

The two most common causes are: (1) your image is too low resolution — video calling apps require at least 1280×720 and recommend 1920×1080, and upscaling a small image causes blur; (2) your image is not 16:9 aspect ratio, so the app crops it automatically, cutting off the sides or top. This converter solves both problems by resizing to exactly 1920×1080 before you upload.

No. PhotoFormatLab processes all images entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your files are never transmitted to any server. This is especially important for virtual backgrounds, which often include home interiors, office spaces, or branded content that you may not want on a third-party server.
