How Client-Side Processing Works
When you select an image file, your browser reads it directly from your local file system using the File API. The raw image data stays in your browser's memory and is never sent over the network.
For common formats like JPG, PNG, and WebP, we use the browser's built-in Canvas API to decode and re-encode images. For HEIC and AVIF decoding, we use WebAssembly-compiled codecs that run entirely in your browser's sandboxed environment.
Heavy processing is offloaded to Web Workers, keeping the main thread responsive. Once conversion is complete, the resulting file is created as a Blob URL in memory and offered for download. When you close the page, all data is garbage-collected.
This architecture means there is literally no server that could be breached, no database that could be leaked, and no transmission that could be intercepted. Your files exist only where they should: on your device.
