PhotoFormatLab was born from a simple frustration: every image converter we found either required uploading files to some random server, bombarded us with ads and upsells, or slapped watermarks on our converted images.
We set out to build something better -- a tool that converts images instantly using the power of modern browsers, with zero server involvement. Your photos never leave your device. There are no accounts, no watermarks, and no premium tiers. Just fast, private image conversion for everyone.
We make this possible by leveraging modern web technologies like the Canvas API, Web Workers, and WebAssembly. These allow us to decode and re-encode images entirely in your browser at near-native speed, supporting everything from Apple's HEIC format to the latest AVIF standard.
